We are engulfed more into the flood disaster aid rather than celebrating the new year like Malaysians normally do. For that, I guess it is a good thing. Save the tax payers' money from spending on lousy concerts and corrupt countdowns.
We are attach to the mobile phones following updates from the disaster locations and aid drive but simply can't resist the temptation sharing food and vacation photos as if we don't care the huge loss these people had.
As of this time, I can confirm my participation in our local community aid drive, base in Surau Al-Ansar. After getting the green light from an owner, his pick-up will be loaned to transport the aid. Financial, food and personal necessity items have been generous. Alhamdulillah. According to plan, we will start our journey this Friday, 9th January to Kelantan. The convoy will consist of 3 no. of 3 tonnes lorries and 10 pick-ups with 40 workforce. Seems like a huge team.
Last Friday night we shopped for items at a huge retailer in Kuchai Lama. Among others are a thousand bottles of drinking water, diaper and biscuits. 600 packs of 5 kilos of rice were brought in, phase by phase.
We met another group of aid convoy on our way out. A group of Chinese guys, young and old. To my surprise, they are weekend warrior cyclists, and lives nearby to ours. The national interest have connected us, witnessing warm and kind hearts united as one. Allahuakbar.
Come weekend, I assisted with UPM aid drive. We brought the kids along. Goods were packed and sent over to Air Force base in Bukit Jelutong. Another weekend without cycling, but I felt OK as long as the priorities are set right.
Lets pray for the them and for the aid team. Inshaa Allah.
