It may sound something of a retreat. Actually it was kind of true. We did escape from the massive traffic moving away from KL to all over the Peninsular causing chaos since Friday to Monday. And the greatest retreat for us whom stayed behind was enjoying the calmness and deserted KL City.
Malaysians seems to enjoy travelling but due to limited options and alternatives, they were forced to clogged the highways and other major roads. And there were times when travellers were advised to choose the right time to travel, but now it may seemed that almost all the time those major roads are being utilised. The best way for me, is either to retreat and spend the relaxing moment at home.
We did enjoyed the 'retreat' when most of the 4 days I kept getting traffic updates from whatsapp groups. It was kind of scary.
On Labour Day we just chilled, running some errants which were left unattended before this. And of course family breakfast. Moving around Cheras and nearby area was so convenient. It was almost like Hari Raya or CNY holidays. Roads were empty.
We filled some plans for Saturday with swimming and movie followed with a dinner. Still a leisurely drive to move around.
Sunday can still feel the emptiness in the morning as I headed out to a cycling retreat into an old mining area in Bangi. Locals named it the Bukit Mahkota Challenge Park. Very nice man made trails through secondary forest and around an abandoned lake with easy inclines and smooth downhill swerving through greens of lalang. A quick mountain biking for an hour gave treats the fatigue mind.
Come Monday, I hike up the challenge by joining some new friends into Bukit Kiara. It was like the old fashion way of me against the younger mountain biker breed. They are young by 15 to 20 years and ride the ultimate machine, which I estimate costed them a huge amount of funds. But it was fun, though we struggled with the slippery roots and rocks from last night's downpour.
Sorry no picture. I was enjoying every bit of the 'retreat'.
