Done & completed my first week of four days job at Deca USJ. It was physically demanding for this age especially when the job is to stand for seven hours. The crowd was enormous come weekend, but that made the standing worth while since time passed by unnoticed. I didn't had the chance to squeeze a chat or two with the customers as I did on Thursday and Friday.
The challenge didn't just stop there right after cashing out. The store was in a mess. Items were all over the place. Malaysians?! They just left it wherever they want and imagine how messy it was when when the crowd was triple on weekend.
However, I salute the energy and persevere from the staff. They are a group of positive minded youngsters. Despite the exhaustion throughout the day, they still can laugh and joke around while continuing with the 'phasing' (putting back things where they're supposed to be). Things like folding back the t-shirts, hang back the clothes on hangers and onto the aisle, arranging all display items, watches, balls, small accessories and many more.
Going into my fourth evening with these guys, I started to feel the welcoming feedback from them. Things was a bit different during my one week training. They were mostly reserved with new staff especially people double the age to them. But this time around, the greetings were welcoming. I will try my best to blend in, which however I know I couldn't hang around with their activities outside working time.
My travel time to and fro needs a bit more adjustment. As I struggled to rush to USJ after fetching the kids after school and also reaching the store in time. The ride back was another challenge, when it is already tiring, the distance and travel period may rip off more energy. In that manner, I was also glad that I have only four days a week to work. I have the remaining seven days to recover.
Hoping that I will survive the weeks to come, cause I really need the pay.
