Hulu Langat Trail Run 2018

Last Sunday I ran the HLTR 2018 which means it was the third edition for me. I think so. The first was only 7 km when I replaced someone and last year a 17 km bonking situation. It was a desperate attempt and failed big time. I walked for the remaining 10 km. Can you imagine that?

This year was a big relief for me. After running for a while since I started the SCKLM scheduled training, I had some miles in the legs for this run. And, it turned out to be a great and fun one.

The distance was 15 km. The trail was magnificently routed and manned. Last year was disaster with super incline. But of course I had to fast walk up certain climbs which was not quite run-able.

I started slow. It was a nice to be stuck at the middle of the pack when I had to force myself to follow the pace of the huge crowd. It provided me with ample warm up time. As the pack dispersed when the trail ease a little bit, I started to run within sustainable pace.

Enjoyed myself to an ice cream at the ninth kilometer where a water station was located at the top of the climb. And the rest of the 6 km was run and having fun especially at the river crossing to wash away the sticky sweat with refreshing cold water.

Honestly I felt a bit surprised when I overheard the marshal yelled out the remaining 400 meters to the finishing line. What? So soon? Though the legs are starting to jell out, but the 2 hours running was not quite bad. I really owed it to the scheduled training since February.
