Week 9 - Lethargic

Last week was the 9th week of the SCKLM training, which also marked the beginning of the third three face module. The weekdays' miles increases and that goes together with the weekend run. It was a bit less hectic when it fell during a school break. Hence, I managed to start my morning run early and less chaotic for the rest of the day providing me space to relax and recover.

I managed to squeeze a quick lunch with old running friends Nik, Syah and Shuk at our annual gathering place Pelita Jalan Ampang. The old Pelita was next to Wisma Central. Now it's next to MATIC. We missed out on Ziff and of course our late Det. We never miss a session, at least once a year catching up on old and new stories especially the local running atmosphere.

It seemed that everyone kept on exercising be it competitively or on recreational basis. We talked about the grand marathon event SCKLM mostly old stories and memories. It was so nostalgic and sweet.

I ran a short 5 km on Thursday at Putrajaya Challenge Park while escorting FU on his first mountain biking experience, and 8 km on Friday. The Friday run was a bit lethargic. I wonder why. Schedule says that I need to race a 10k on the weekend but it may seemed not possible.

I decided to customize my weekend race to something a bit demanding, which hopefully I can cater. I planned for an interval training while sending AY for his football training. The place provided a good running track which may help me monitor my pace and distance.

However, it turned out more than I can chew. The menu was a kilometer with a few minutes recovery, repeating for 10 times. The pace was averaged at 5.12 but I can only managed 5 reps. Each kilometer was a drag race, suffering to end it which I decided to throw the towel.

Looking back at the weekend attempt, I tried to review what went wrong. Which eventually I noticed that I had lamb on Friday evening. I had previous knowledge that meat is preferably taken on Monday if one is in the middle of a training. Meat takes up most oxygen to the stomach for digestion process instead of to the leg muscles. Mistakes! Hahaha
